What we do
Maroon 9 Community Enrichment Organization is dedicated to inspiring and empowering underserved teens through the transformative power of theater arts. We provide free year-round out-of-school-time programs and opportunities to teach creative expression opposed to juvenile crime.
Our Kids Acting With Purpose youth development program is focused on providing accessible and high-quality arts enrichment, mentorship, life skills workshops, and college/career readiness. Beyond the stage we are dedicated to fostering creativity, building self-confidence, expanding cultural awareness, and promoting teamwork in supportive and inclusive environments. Through dynamic productions, educational workshops, and community engagement, we strive to provide access for underserved youth to discover their unique talents and use their voice for social impact.

Our mission is to enrich the lives of underserved teens in Tarrant County, TX through engaging after-school and summer programs teaching creative expression opposed to juvenile crime, and fostering a path of self-discovery, personal growth and resilience that extends beyond the stage and their high school years.
Our Goals
Provide Comprehensive Arts Education: Offer accessible and affordable opportunities for youth from diverse backgrounds and abilities to participate in high-quality arts enrichment activities. Promote Positive Youth Development: Teach youth transferable skills that support various career pathways and extend beyond life after high school. Advocacy for Prevention: Actively advocate for the role of creative expression in preventing juvenile crime through awareness campaigns, partnerships, and community outreach. Community Engagement: Collaborate with local organizations to extend the reach of our programs, promote community involvement, and educate the community on important topics.

Artistic Director ShaVonne Davis
ShaVonne Davis is a Theatre Arts Educator and Director and from Fort Worth, TX. She is a proud graduate of Clark Atlanta University where she received her Bachelor of Arts in Theatre Arts. Mrs. Davis has served as the Executive Director of Maroon 9 Community Enrichment Organization since 2020. Under her leadership the organization has provided over 40 free enrichment programs to hundreds of underserved youth in Tarrant County, TX. Mrs. Davis is an accomplished grant writer and has brought in almost $200,000 in program grants for Maroon 9. Mrs. Davis and her community work through the arts have been featured on media outlets such as WFAA Channel 8 with Tashara Parker, DFW Fox 4 with Tisia Muzinga, ABC13 in Houston, TX, the TV show Localish, and NBC5 DFW with Vince Sims. One of Mrs. Davis’ most notable accomplishments is the $10,000 grant and recognition she received from the @BeyGOOD Small Business Impact Grant from Beyonce’ and the NAACP.

About Our Name (pick of Cynthia)
Our Vice President, Cynthia Banks, founded our nonprofit to memorialize her brother Michael Patterson who suffered from Sickle Cell Disease (add link to Community Initiatives in Our Programs page) until his death at the early age of 49.
Maroon is the official color for the Sickle Cell Disease Awareness Ribbon. 9 represents September, Sickle Cell Disease Awareness Month.
We are an advocate for patients with Sickle Cell Disease and provide financial assistance to patients in need. We endeavor to share resources and make the public aware of this incurable disease.(add link to Community Initiatives in Our Programs page)
